MacOS 9, released in Oct., 1999, now includes all Language Kits which had been sold separately.
The New JIS Kanji, which had an initial objective of about 2,000 Level 3 characters and 3,000 Level 4 characters to be added to JIS X 0208 (6,355 Levels 1 & 2 characters), was proposed as the final draft of 3,685 Levels 3 & 4 characters by JIS Coded Character Set (JCS) Committee (in Japanese) in August, 1999, approved in Nov., 1999, and promulgated as JIS X0213:2000 on Jan. 20, 2000. 日本工業規格 JIS X 0208 情報交換用漢字符号（６３５５第１＆２水準文字）に追加する新ＪＩＳ漢字（当初の目標：第３水準約２０００字と第４水準約３０００字）は、公開レビューを終えて、1999年8月に最終案（３６８５第３＆４水準文字）が符号化文字集合調査研究委員会(JCS)から提案され、11月に決定し、2000年1月20日にJIS X0213:2000として制定されました。新JIS漢字策定の進捗状況を参照。
